Proto.in is a not for profit endeavor and is a part of a not for profit society – The Knowledge Foundation. We charge the presenting start-ups and we have clearly mentioned it in the nomination form, and only the Startups that comply to the terms apply in the first place.

And we do not prevent or charge anybody for talking to VCs at the event. Infact, we proactively help the two sides connect.

Is Proto.in a “for profit” endeavor of its promoters or is it a non-profit volunteer group? How are startup placements of startups in proto.in decided? I’d heard from some startup founders that they have a fixed charge for getting in their showcase and also if you wanted to talk to VCs at the show.

Clarifications on these aspects would help some of us evaluate our volunteering related decisions.
