In our case we started the US office after we started the India office. Also we had to build the team in India and have a more partner like work culture with the US office. It creates some initial difficulties, but then once they are ironed out, it works really well where we get to implement things on a much faster scale. This really is the best model to go after. This is not a "key guys in the US, other devs in India" setup. The whole team (other than the CEO) is in India. 2. And from what I saw when I visited True Sparrow, they are deeply involved in figuring out the future of the product, what features to put in and the architecture of the system. 3. True Sparrow has equity in social|median 4. Jason visits Pune every month. I guess this has more similarities with offshoring (i.e. setting up an India center). But even offshore teams wouldn't score very high on point #1 and #4 (or even #2 in most cases.) I'd love to hear where on this scale other startups are. Or if there are other models that are working really well. Also, Nikhil, I'm sure punetech readers would love to hear the rest of the justmeans story too.
