Hey great Tips Aman, i am myself a big fan of Linked in.
But the thing that i have observed is once you have added someone in your network there is not much of a scope to be in professional touch with ur contacts, like for ex in facebook we can write from wall to wall.Similarly in linked there should be some common interactive forum.

Amit,

Good point -- I would also recommend accepting invites from anyone. While I do agree with your not spamming point (outbound invites) , I don't view incoming invitations as "spam". There are many benefits to accepting all invites.

1. Many people are recruiters so that helps you directly. Sometimes they reach out to you for suggestions and it always helps to help recruiters.

2. I accept invites from "competitors". As you know many exi2ers are at places like SAP, Oracle, and other "competitors" so it is good to keep in touch with everyone.

3. Having many connections even of people you don't know very well is good for you as you can get amazing insights into other companies' organizations if they are in your network.

Let me know if you ever get to Boston.

Best
