Freeman Murray has worked with technology startups in India and the USA for most of the last 15 years. Recently he was the primary technical mentor in the iAccelerator early stage technology incubation program at IIM Ahmedabad where he helped select and guide 5 teams from idea to prototype. This involved working with people on their database schemas, doing code reviews, teaching about MVC software design, refining ideas into actionable milestones and running regular engineering meetings.
Previously he helped establish Mixercast.com a media mashup and widget advertizing company based in Pune. Brought in by the company's VCs in Silicon Valley as the first employee he worked closely with the founder to hire the initial team, develop the software and establish the engineering culture.
In Silicon Valley, he worked in the Java group at Sun Microsystems for 3 years. After this he co-founded Kendara Inc. which moved portal functionality into the browser, and in 2 years sold the company to the largest broadband internet provider at the time Excite@Home.
He has a long standing interest in the positive role the internet can play in education and sustainable living. Since selling Kendara he has engaged with a number of nonprofit organizations working in this direction such as The Digital Studyhall, Video Volunteers, Curriki and AirJaldi
