InfoSignz is a Pune-based company which offers digital signage as a service. Digital signage refers to the video screens you see in malls, grocery stores, department stores, airports, train stations, elevator LOBBIES and so on. InfoSignz offers a web-based service which allows anybody to put content on any monitors/TV screens in their establishment without requiring any specialized hardware, or any special expertise.

Digital signage refers to the video screens that you can see in malls, grocery stores, department stores, airports, train stations, elevator LOBBIES and so on. These displays show messages like advertisements, news, weather, current events and other informational items.

A digital signage platform is a collection of such screens.

InfoSignz targets retail store owners, out of home (OOH) TV networks, hotels, business and communication managers, franchise and in-store networks, educational institutes, SOHO clients, saloons, conference rooms, kiosks and media agencies. InfoSignz free platform offers an opportunity to use the power of dynamic advertising and messaging to communicate and engage with customers in real time.

InfoSignz launched in March, 2008 with a free web-based digital signage solution runs on any hardware and operating system including Linux and is designed to be easy to use. No software download is required. A customer has to just login to website, sign up and start using the application for free.

To be able to set up a digital signage solution, all that a customer needs is a computer (Windows or Linux), with a browser (IE or Firefox), and screens of any size and type (LCD, plasma, CRT, old TVs). However, the computer needs to be connected to the internet via a 1MBPS DSL connection. In addition, there needs to be a Windows computer with IE6+ - from where the designer can create screens, create playlists and see reports. The customer can create screens and playlist using images (GIF, JPEG, BMP and PNG), video (Flash, i.e. FLV) and RSS feeds. According to InfoBeanz, "person with knowledge of using email like hotmail and yahoo should be able to figure out how to use InfoSignz in less than half an hour."

InfoSignz plans to make money by advertising on the network, and by offering premium services for paid customers. The paid service will have enhanced file, playlist and location management features. Apart from that, the paid service will also have enhanced interactivity features. The paid service has not yet been launched.
