Purplenova
From PuneTech
Purplenova is a free software+service that makes it possible to web-host content directly from any internet-connected computer irrespective of the network type. The Publisher (one who wants to web-host files/ services / etc) downloads and installs Purplenova on his internet-connected Windows computer. The computer could be behind Routers / Firewalls / Proxies / NAT Devices etc, and your internet connection could be of any type. In case of files and web-pages (including those with client-side scripting) web-publishing is as simple as a drag and drop of the files / folders into the Purplenova window. Purplenova interfaces (proxies) to traditional web-server softwares such as IIS and Apache. Publishers can run web-sites and web-services using these traditional web-server softwares (either on the same computer or on the LAN), and provide direct web-access to them via Purplenova.
Purplenova supports vanity domain names, sub-domain names, etc. (eg, one can have a website on a home computer accessible with home.myname.com)
From the perspective of readers, search engine bots, etc, there is no difference between hosting with an ISP vs hosting with Purplenova.
Purplenova makes the most recent content available from your PC to your readers which would require your PC to be ON. In case you cannot leave your PC ON, Purplenova provides each user the ability to store a fixed amount of content on our servers. Content is accessible with the same URLs whether it is delivered from our servers or directly from your PC.
