On August 27, 2003, Shridhar started Great Software Laboratory Pvt. Ltd. (GS Lab) with his highschool friend - Sunil Gaitonde. GS Lab’s product business offers a distributed virtual classroom solution for on-line education marketplace. It also provides product development services in Networking, Security, Convergence, and S-a-a-S.
For eight years before GS Lab, Shridhar was a Director at Persistent Systems, leading the Company’s growth to US$10+M with 500+ employees in 2003 from revenue base of US$200K with 20 employees in 1995. During his stint at Persistent, he helped set the strategic direction, acquired and grew key customer relationships. As COO, Shridhar developed and launched a Company-wide scalable and integrated engineering process to streamline and improve the engineering delivery and resource management. Shridhar also conceived, developed, and marketed worldwide Persistent’s first product line – an innovative suite of Identity Management products.
For six years prior to Persistent, Shridhar served as a faculty member at the US Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA where he successfully led several distributed computing research projects funded by the NSF, US Navy, and Unisys. Shridhar has advised more than 20 Masters and PhD students and has published extensively in the area of parallel processing, distributed computing, multicast protocols, routing, and directory services.
Shridhar holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University (1990), an M. S. from Virginia Tech in VLSI (1985) and a B. Tech. in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, India (1983). Shridhar was born in Nagpur, India in 1962 and now lives in Aundh, Pune with wife Gauri and two teenage children – Aditya (17) and Rohini (16).
Shridhar is very active in the IITB Alumni Association activities and served as the Pune Chapter President between January 2006 and June 2007. During his tenure, Pune chapter's flagship event - Innovations (www.innovations-pune.com) - was conceived and launched. This event has now become an annual feature. Shridhar received an IITB Distinguished Service Award in December 2007.
