[edit] History
For the first decade of its life in Pune, Symantec was known as Veritas. Veritas' software portfolio consisted mainly of products in these categories: storage software, data protection (backup), availability, and data center management. At that time, Symantec was mainly a security company (for both consumers as well as enterprises). In 2005, Veritas merged into Symantec in 2005. At that time, Symantec had no significant presence in Pune. Since then lots of product groups from the original Symantec have started operations in India, and now Symantec India works on the entire product range of the combined Symantec. Symantec Pune employs over 2000 people, mostly spread out across engineering (product development), IT, and tech support.
