Over the years, NASSCOM GICs have played a stellar role in making India the global leader in the IT-BPO outsourcing landscape. GICs have played a key role in creating brand India as a global sourcing destination, and establishing proof of concept. The WR GIC Forum was established 2 1/2 years back to provide a platform to foster best practice sharing and create opportunities for GIC leaders to collaborate on areas in need of collective action and in the long term raise the overall competitiveness of India as a location for this industry.

In a survey launched earlier this year most firms in the GIC forum, identified their future leaders readiness to respond to the rapidly changing IT-ITES operating environment as a key development priority. To address the above need a group comprising of Senior Leaders from various GIC organizations created a leadership development initiative based on inputs from CEO’s and other global leaders. The leadership development initiative “BUILDING FUTURE LEADERS” will provide exposure and learning opportunities to Senior leadership talent within GIC’s specifically those on the anvil of assuming Business Leadership roles. As a part of the above initiative, the GIC forum is pleased to launch a Four part “Leadership Development Series”, focused and tailored exclusively for Senior leadership from the IT / ITES Industry.

February 28th is celebrated as National Science Day all over the country, commemorating the discovery of the Raman Effect by C.V. Raman, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930.

Each year, Science Day is celebrated at the Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) observatory at Khodad. The GMRT, which is the world’s most powerful telescope operating at low radio frequencies, was built and is being operated by the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA) of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR). ‘

What’s new in WildFly (formerly JBoss Application Server)

WildFly 8 (nee JBoss Application Server) is Red Hat’s open source Java EE 7 compliant application server. It contains robust implementations of WebSocket, Batch, JSON, Concurrency, JMS2, JAX-RS 2, CDI 1.1, and all Java EE 7 technologies. Undertow is the new cutting-edge web server in WildFly 8 and is designed for maximum throughput and scalability, including environments with over a million connections. The number of ports is reduced used by multiplexing protocols over HTTP using HTTP Upgrade. Role Based Access Control support organizations with separated management responsibilities and restrictions. Roles represent different sets of permissions such as runtime operation execution, configuration areas that can read or written, and the ability to audit changes and manage users. In addition a new restricted audit log can be enabled including the ability to offload to a secure syslog server. WildFly also provides a “core” distribution that is ideal for framework authors that want to build their own application runtime using the powerful WildFly 8 architecture. NetBeans, IntelliJ, and Eclipse allow WildFly to be used for development, deployment, and debugging.

This session will provide an overview of all these features using several live demos. Format: 30 mins overview of WildFly 8 + 30 mins deep dive on some specific topic(s)

Speaker: Arun Gupta is Director of Developer Advocacy at Red Hat and focuses on JBoss Middleware. As a founding member of the Java EE team at Sun Microsystems, he spread the love for technology all around the world. At Oracle, he led a cross-functional team to drive the global launch of the Java EE 7 platform through strategy, planning, and execution of content, marketing campaigns, and program.

A lot is said and done about the improving the Communication Skills. However, the area of improving Communication Systems or the Communication Process remains vastly ignored by most organizations. There are sustainable benefits, both tangible and intangible, that can be achieved by improving the business communication system. Some organizations have realized impressive numbers such as 100%+ improvement in operational efficiency and 50%+ improvement in sales. The topic of the talk will cover the “how” part.

The speaker is Ashish Belagali, who is our very own POCC leader. Ashish is an IITan with around 20 years of experience. He runs a software organization. NASSCOM Product Conclave Pune #NPC2014
